21 Jump Street
Release date: 18-07-2012
Wanna know the best thing about 21 Jump Street? It doesn’t try to replicate the much-loved ‘80s TV series and instead, targets today’s audiences. Best of all, it pokes fun at the notion that Hollywood is “completely out of ideas” (this line is among the first you’ll hear). Shaking off their checkered adolescence, Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) have joined the police force but as far as cops go, these guys could give the clumsy Police Academy boffins a good run for their money (ie: they suck at their job). Soon, Schmidt and Jenko are assigned to Captain Dickson’s (Ice Cube) undercover Jump Street unit and given the opportunity to redeem themselves. Their mission is to head back to high school to investigate a drug ring and clearly, it’s been a long time since their teen years (keep an eye out for the flashback where Hill totes an Eminem-inspired bleach blonde crew cut).
