Intouchables, The
Release date: 06-03-2013
You’d be forgiven for thinking that a wealthy paraplegic and an ex-crim with a thirst for life wouldn’t exactly make for the very best of friends. But there’s nothing quite like a surprise and based on a true story, The Intouchables provides just that. Philippe (François Cluzet) is a wealthy quadriplegic and he’s searching for a live-in carer. Enter Driss (Omar Sy) – he’s a street smart kid who needs a signature to prove that he’s been looking for work in order to be eligible for various benefits. But Driss also has a dark past, something that Philippe overlooks when he discovers that Driss has been convicted for robbery in the past. In reality, as a widower, the lonely Philippe is looking for more than just a carer. Meanwhile, Driss is having issues with his younger brother Adama (Cyril Mendy) who’s mixing with the wrong crowd. Soon, Philippe and Driss are forging a rather unexpected bond that might just change both their lives.
