Micmacs is exactly what youd expect from Jean-Pierre Jeunet, the man responsible for giving us the magical Amelie back in 2001. In an era where most directors are content with following a proven formula to ensure their films success, its refreshing to see a flick like this one that continues to push the boundaries and offers something that is visually, very different to what were used to. Bazil (Dany Boon) lives his life on the brink of death thanks to a stray bullet lodged in his brain. After being released from hospital, Bazil has nowhere to go until a crew of oddballs adopt him. Remington (Omar Sy), Calculator (Marie-Julie Baup), Buster (Dominique Pignon), Slammer (Jean-Pierre Marielle), Elastic Girl (Julie Ferrier), Tiny Pete (Michel Cremades) and Mama Chow (Yolande Moreau) take him under their wing and when Basil discovers whos to blame for the majority of his misfortune, they plot to take the culprits down for good. |
