As was the case with Kick-Ass, theres nothing like a little bit of controversy to raise a films profile and Open House is no exception after people were cited walking out of its initial press screening in the US. Whether you think it lives up to its contentious reputation is a matter of opinion as the directorial debut of Andrew Paquin (yes, the brother of True Blood star Anna) has him overseeing a load of slicing and dicing. Alice (Rachel Blanchard) is trying to move on from a painful divorce by trying to sell her home but her plan hits a large bump in the road after news breaks that a pair of serial killers are taunting her Los Angeles suburb. Before long, the culprits, Lila and David (Tricia Helfer and Brian Geraghty) are wreaking havoc, amassing one impressive body count as they rejoice in killing and maiming one minute and enjoying a nice quiet dinner together the next (yep, killings always sure to get that appetite racing!). |
