| If you can rely on the fantastic duo of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp for one thing it’s doing something like it’s never been done before and Alice in Wonderland is no exception. Let’s just say, Lewis Carroll’s classic story is on the receiving end of Burton’s oddball direction and the end results are stunning. 19-year-old Alice (Mia Wasikowska) is forced to flee from her home after she’s proposed to by Hamish. Finding herself falling down a rabbit hole after chasing a waistcoated rabbit (yes, it’s bizarre!), she finds herself in a round hall with many doors. After succumbing to a bottle labelled “Drink Me” and a piece of cake with the words “Eat Me” iced on top of it, Alice soon finds herself shrunken and glowing (don’t ask!). Yes, Underworld is a strange land and it’s only going to get weirder as Alice encounters folk like the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) amongst others. Alice really is a long way from home! | |||
